The Knowledge Bank is where Institute members can search The Knowledge Centre’s online resources. It offers a wealth of information that is now available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There are a number of online services which are only available to our members such as the Library Catalogue, Business Intelligence Service, Company Profiles and World Newspapers Today. The Library Catalogue provides an easy way of connecting to The Knowledge Centre’s stock of printed information. Members can search over 45,000 sources of reference from the Institute’s own specialist logistics, supply chain and transport library, using an email facility to request items for loan, the photocopying of journal articles, or to find further information.
Business Intelligence Service, a full text, business journal database, is designed to meet the diverse information needs for both companies and students alike. The database contains full text and abstracted articles from around 6,275 trade and academic journals of which 3563 are peer-reviewed. The total number of journals & magazines in full text is 4884 of which 2577 are peer reviewed. Included in the database is the Institute’s own Membership Journal – ‘Logistics & Transport Focus’. The database also includes full-text country economic reports, reviews, studies and surveys, and full-text Industry reports. In addition, there are Company Profiles provided by MarketLine, a leading creator of in-depth company information, which include substantial profiles and SWOT analysis for over 10,000 of the world’s leading companies across all business sectors.
World Newspapers Today, is an extensive but easily searchable database which provides anyone, from the casual reader to the formal researcher, with access to over 2,200 newspapers and magazines from more than 97 countries in 54 languages. Access is in the form of the full text of each newspaper, complete with a page-turning facility. Individual articles can be printed or emailed to colleagues. As well as today’s news there is an archive that contains the newspaper content for the last 90 days, allowing for retrospective searching.
