In march 2018, the Young professional forum of CILT Bangladesh council arranged a field trip to Pangaon Inland Container terminal (ICT).
The ICT is Located in keraniganj, covering an area of 55,000 Sq. m. the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and the
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) jointly built this inland terminal with an expectation that it will enhance the Economic development through trade and commerce.
The purpose of the visit to ICT was to give an insight to the young professional about the physical operations, activities and practical knowledge. Upon entering the facility, the traffic manager, Mr. Ahmedul Karim Chowdhury appointed a guide who deals with the operation in ICT. First of all, the guide showed the container freight station which covers an area-5815 Sq. m. and the operation carried out inside the CFS Then after that he showed the reefer plug in points, where the refrigerator containers are used to plugged-in in order to keep the cargo cool. Then the guide showed how the container are being loaded and unloaded to and from the ship, using cargo lifting crane, straddle carrier and tractor trailer. After that the traffic manager invited us to his office and gave a short presentation about the Pangaon ICT, the challenges that are being faced and its future prospect.
